I was preparing for a talent show a while back and was trying to find a cover of 'The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars to sing for it. I stumbled on Jane's version and fell in love immediately.

I've since been meaning to get a CD, and cannot wait to see what amazing new things she puts out!!!!

hello there!

My name is Anders and i am from Denmark, and if you don't know where that is, you are probably not the only one. it's a small country in central Europe (less than 6 million people).

At the moment almost all of my time is spend studying to become a graphic designer, and well even when i have some free time i spend it making graphic art or listening to music, often at the same time.

I discovered the music one day when i was  reading and listening to music in the background, when firefly came on, for a few moments i did not notice it, but there it was, a beautiful voice singing the most amazing song, from there on it did not take long before i was completely hooked.

Now i listen to it whenever i have the time, and i use it for inspiration when i am creating graphic designs, and i just wanted to say thank you so much for making everything a bit more bearable, thank you :)

A couple of days ago, someone posted a link on Facebook to A History of Lyrics that Aren't Lyrics.  I followed more lyrics and found music that is funny, ethereal, disciplined and way outside the box.  How amazing and beautiful.

I am a lover of improvisation, of creative roads that lead to surprises that make the known world make more sense, of quiet ideas that cut through the chaos and chatter.

I like baking, drawing, gardening, cats, C.S. Lewis, Korean dramas, and dark beer.

I figure signing up here will open up more wonder and fun.

Jane's video "Lyrics that aren't lyrics" was the video of the day on Sports Illustrated website under a section called Hot Clicks.  I was hook by the pure voice and natural manner, she just seems to be having fun and enjoying the music.  I have since downloaded her Goodnight Company CD in iTunes.

I suppose I'm not the typical demographic, I'm 58 retired government worker who cares for his two year old grandson two or three days a week, plays golf once a week and works as a counselor at a church based employment service once a week.  Life is good - Bob

Ohhh ermmmm..... couldn't sleep on a dark(!) rainy night, slid onto Youtube looking for music, searched Maroon 5 and found this wonderful multi-talented Jane Lui and thought one of two things - (a) must feature her music on my online radio show and (b) must show my percussion/drumming/found instrumental school group "Make Some Noise" when we regroup in a week or so.

Also, as a member of staff, I cover teaching - so had Jane's music blast out during an IT lesson - the cartoon themes went down a treat!

Hello from the UK!

Leigh.

Hello Jane!

Ran across your cartoon medley with Paul Dateh. Curious, I looked into your site and loved the work. What a great range of talent and an incredible voice. After playing the "Sounds of Honda" video an inordinate amount of times, I now find myself humming it. Very catchy tune! Seriously I can't get it out of my head.

I can't wait to hear more from you so I can get that stuck in my head instead.

Best of luck,

new fan Max

Hi there !

Present myself... Hmmm. I'm a 21-year-old dreamer, lazy, geek. I love to write when something comes to my mind and is enough interesting to be laid on my little notebook which always travel with me, and in which I write from the last page to the first, just because.

I'm writing a pseudo-novel, try to do some ridiculously bad poetry... And love to discover new singers ^^

I discovered Jane Lui's voice on Facebook, (here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gcnCNnPxW7A) and wanted to discover more about this beautifu, apparently crazy and angel voiced girl ^^

I watched some videos and... bought the goodnight company immediatly ! Original songs and sounds, I hope to here more soon and I wish you the best as a singer, you deserve it !!!

Hello!

My name is Amber but you can call me whatever you like, I'm flexible.

I'm brand new to Jane's music, having been directed here from the violince vid she did with Paul Dateh. It's very rare that I find an artist that I connect to as strongly, or as quickly as I did with Jane's music. It's different from what I usually listen to, but it's real, and I can't get enough.

I have recently graduated from Berklee Music with my Masters Certificate in Music Business and Technology. I've found myself surrounded by independent artists looking to make it big. What I like about Jane is how unpretentious it all is. I feel like we are really seeing the artist, and not a manufactured image. I love it. I love feeling that connection to the music, and I can only hope that once I get really working in the industry I will be fortunate enough to work with artists as real as Jane.

Hello!

Nickname's Mikaus.  Why? Because at one point in college I had a friend that wanted to name a band we had together Mike's House (since we always practiced there) and eventually he thought it was funny to call me Mikaus (pronounced Mike-us) and it sort of just stuck.

I attempt to draw, sing, play guitar and make funny videos on occasion.

I don't remember when I started listening to JL (hopefully you don't mind being called that Jane ).  All I know is that when I saw the video on YouTube I had to hit subscribe!

-Mike.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for the very cool T-shirt.

I am loving this song that you have posted. As soon as hubby gets his job back, I want to buy a CD and support your amazing music! I could go forever without playing my guitar, and when ever I hear your music, I want to go and create. Thanks Jane:)

My name is Thomas, but most of my friends call me tommylama, tangmasi, or xiaotiantian(don't ask >.<).

Hobbies include photography, running, yoga, computers, and digital art.

I love most kinds of music(except country), traveling, sushi, walks in the rain, and spending time with my friends.

The thing I dislike the most are people who are fake and lie.

Currently I'm in Ohio, but I hope to return to Taiwan or China sometime in the next two years.

I discovered Jane's music in several ways actually. The first time I heard her music was on iTunes when she was the featured artist for awhile. Unfortunately I was sitting in an airport in Hong Kong without a bank account open in the USA so I couldn't download it then. In my mass rush to get to my next flight I forgot about the beautiful music I had just listened to.>,< The next time I discovered her music was on youtube. The name sounded familiar when I was listening to a few of her songs that she had posted, but it didn't fully click with me until I watched her video about her trip to HK(This video makes me tear up every time I watch it by the way. I also lost someone very close to me shortly before I watched that for the first time).  I think it was around that time that I bought her first two albums and I've been hooked ever since.

Greetings from Beaumont, CA. I'm mainly into audio production such as sound effects and recently started writing an audio play podcast. Funnily enough, I discovered Jane's music by searching on Youtube for the theme to the TV show Firefly, but kept seeing the video for her song Firefly. After a week I finally clicked it, and a year later I'm making copies of her promo cd to local shops and friends and spreading the word around.

I was fortunate to be able to attend some shows by Sara Bareilles when she was a much less well-known artist playing small gigs around LA.  Whenever I saw her perform, she radiated this unique authenticity and energy and was so inspiring to watch that you couldn't help but just love her and wish she was your best friend.  (Not to mention she had an amazing voice!)  I remember that from the very first time that I saw her perform--at that point as part of a UCLA a cappella group--I knew that if she wanted to, she could really go far and connect to a huge audience someday.

I feel exactly the same way about Jane now.  You may or may not like Sara B's music from what you know of it (I myself prefer the funkier stuff that I remember her playing at some of those small shows back in the day to what you probably have heard on the radio more recently), but if you're posting on these message boards then you clearly have felt that same special addicting energy from listening to (or watching) Jane perform.  It's hard to describe, but it's a really awesome feeling, and I'm pretty sure you can only get it from experiencing the work of certain types of great performers/creative souls.  So I am very grateful to you Jane for sharing your stuff with us..!!!!

As for me and how I got here, I read a San Diego Citybeat review of Jane's recent album a couple months ago and upon downloading and listening to it I instantly fell for her.  Despite my passion for music I'm not a huge concert-goer, but I definitely had a strong urge to go to see her perform live.  Luckily she had a San Diego show at LeStat's (in Normal Heights..?) really soon (that night maybe?), and I thought to myself, Well, why not?  So sort of just as a spur-of-the-moment decision I took off on my own to go watch, and it was indeed a great time.  Afterward I was doubly convinced that I'd found a new favorite artist.  : )

Cheers!

You are so fortunate to have been able to see her. I live in New Hampshire,so I won't be able to see Jane any time soon. Her voice brings tears to my eyes. It is filled with such soul isn't it?

My name's Joyce aka Ladydust. I'm from London, UK!

I'm very into making things with paper and so origami and other paper crafts I'm quite good at!

I stumbled upon Jane's music through her video that she did with Clara C.

And since then I've been a Janiemonster addict! :) hehehe.

Hobbies: Iaido though I'm not currently actively training, computer related...stuff, arachnology (yes, I like spiders).

Likes: Good manners, reminiscing with friends, sleeping (current record is 16 hours after 4 days without sleep), castles, Japanese vending machines (saki and nuts for breakfast? can do! I'm not an alcoholic, it's a fond memory).

EDIT: OK, I just realised that claiming that I am not an alcoholic while my avatar is a picture of me holding a pint may look a little... off... I really am not :)

Dislikes: Hollywood remakes of classic movies, shaving, telephones, vodka (or rather, it doesn't like me), watching movies alone.

Location: Sunny England, though it is snowing right now :)

Discovered Jane on Pledge Music after reading an article that referenced an article that mentioned Pledge. I was at the tail end of a pretty horrific depression at the time and "Illusionist Boy" made me forget for a little while. Yes, my method of finding bands and artists that I like could use some streamlining.

Oh, jeez.  Hi I'm Mikey.

Hobbie: I'd say computer geekry (games, web, programming, hardware) is my hobby, but I get paid for it too.

Likie: Um.  Lotsa different stuff.  Mostly food-related.  Particularly bacon and sushi (not together... but I will find a way).

Dislikie: Bad drivers.  Old country and new rap.  Bad hair da... nevermind that one.

Locatie: San Diego.  Yes.

Janie(?!): Got dragged by an ex-coworker to a Lestat's show with Jane and I think it was Vienna Teng.  Got floored by her voice and presence.  Went to another show, got Two Fridays and Teargirl somewhere in there, which went straight to my iPod.  Randomly saw her at Zarape, whereupon my friend had to drag her out to talk to her new, and now immensely embarassed, fan.  And the rest is history.  ^_^

My name is Jin and the show tonight was AMAZING.

The full details of how I discovered Jane's hands. I said Firefly but I guess that implies Youtube? I actually only watch Youtube for the new covers. The full story is as follows:

I first discovered CDBaby through an ad for Echo Slightly (and Captain Dan & the Scurvy Crew). After that, I started paging through different genres looking for the good stuff - I literally went through the entire selection for Adult Alternative: Pop/Rock and couldn't resist "headphones recommended" and "lo-budget hi-concept" so gave it a whirl. Hm, okay. Went to some of the links for the old booking sites and read an awesome bio and found some promo tracks. Download, download. By this time, I'd generated a massive wishlist so couldn't order a tenth of the music I wanted to hear.

Now, I have hundreds of indie tracks on my playlist from different channels and networks that I scour semi-regularly. But then "Firefly" came on and everything stopped for a moment and I HAD to know more. I think that song must have been on repeat for a solid month. Barkentine was an obvious buy, and Teargirl followed.

Seeing Jane live makes me want to run out and LIVE and play MUSIC and SING. And her music video covers make me want to toss out everything I "know" about recording and just jam a microphone next to the nearest thing and go with the flow. Too bad's it's 3:47am.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou you're the most inspiring person I've ever met. :)
